5 points to note for customs clearance of dangerous goods imported by sea
2025-12-31 10:35:49

If you choose sea freight for customs clearance of imported dangerous goods, you must pay attention to 5 points. If not clear, it may not be possible to complete the customs clearance operation smoothly. What are the specific 5 points?

The following 5 points should be noted for customs clearance of dangerous goods imported by sea:

1. If the dangerous goods are of different types when booking, the booking of dangerous goods must be handled separately according to the different hazardous characteristics of each type to ensure safety.

2. If the port receives such dangerous goods, arrangements can be made for booking.

3. Before booking, a registration application form for the entry-exit inspection and quarantine reporting unit and a packaging appraisal application form must be filled out. If the company has already registered with the entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau where the port is located, there is no need to fill out the registration application form for the entry-exit inspection and quarantine reporting unit. However, the company seal needs to be stamped on the packaging appraisal application form, and two documents need to be submitted to the factory. The factory will then apply to the local inspection bureau to handle the packaging appraisal of dangerous goods imported by sea.

4. When booking, in addition to the normal documents, the following documents must also be provided: a copy of the dangerous goods instruction manual in both Chinese and English, a result sheet for the use of packaging containers for imported dangerous goods by sea, and a result sheet for the performance evaluation of packaging containers for imported dangerous goods by sea (cardboard packaging). Note: Sometimes a packing certificate is required.

5. Before importing dangerous goods by sea, provide the dangerous goods manual to the freight forwarder, and the freight forwarder will inquire with the customs whether the port accepts such dangerous goods.
